Kenny Chesney Puts on Rousing Performance of 'Get Along' on 'Tonight Show'

Kenny Chesney released his latest album, Songs for the Saints, on Friday (July 27) and stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to play the album's single, "Get Along," on Tuesday night (July 31).

Sporting a cowboy hat and boots, the country star gave a rousing, foot-stomping performance of the optimistic tune. "Get along while we can/ Always give love the upper hand/ Paint a wall, learn to dance/ Call your mom, buy a boat/ Drink a beer, sing a song/ Make a friend, can't we all get along," the 50-year-old sings in the chorus, which was inspired by the amount of altruism following Hurricanes Irma and Maria.

Before the performance, Chesney chatted with Fallon about topics ranging from "auditioning" for the New Orleans Saints to what inspired his new album.

“It would be easy to make a record about that devastation and destruction, but I made a record about the healing process,” he told Fallon about the hurricanes that devastated the Virgin Islands. “I’ve always felt that music is the most healing thing we have in our lives, no matter what kind of music you listen to.”

All of the Songs for the Saints proceeds go to Chesney’s nonprofit foundation Love for Love City, which is working to help rebuild the islands’ damaged infrastructure.
