Man Arrested Trying To Steal Commercial Jet To Fly To Concert

Arkansas police arrested an 18-year-old man after he allegedly tried to steal an American Eagle twin-engine jet so he could fly to a rap concert in another state. A security guard at Texarkana Regional Airport saw Zemarcuis Devon Scott jump a fence around 2:30 a.m. and called the police.

When the cops arrived, Scott was in the cockpit of the commercial jet trying to figure out how to get it ready for take-off. Officers drew their guns and ordered him to put his hands up, before they entered the cockpit and took him into custody.

When Scott was questioned about his lack of flying experience, he told officers that he believed that flying a plane would be easy, thinking he just had a push a few buttons and pull some levers to get the 44-seat aircraft off the ground.

Scott was charged with commercial burglary and attempted theft of property with a value greater than $25,000. He faces three to ten years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
