Black Lightning Actress Dies Unexpectedly At 32 After 'Sudden Illness'

Actress Charlbi Dean has passed away suddenly after an unexpected illness.

The actress who played Syonide on the former CW show Black Lightning, passed away Monday, August 29th from "an unexpected sudden illness," according to a rep for the star to NBC News. No other details were being shared to the public.

Dean also appeared in the CBS series, Elementary and was a working, successful model. In October, Dean's film Triangle of Sadness with Woody Harrelson is set to be released. In May, Dean went with her co-stars to the 2022 Cannes Film Festival where the movie won the prestiges Palme d'Or award. 

"It took a whole team to make this day possible, three years to get this project here, family and friends for supporting me and many more years of dreaming," Dean wrote on Instagram after walking the red carpet. "Thank you to all involved [heart emojis] special thanks to @dior for my dream dress and @chopard for my unreal jewelry."
